Tzipi Livni Resigns from Parliament

Israel’s Tzipi Livni resigned from parliament, saying that there needs to be more of an effort to push for peace with Palestinians.

This shows the apparent disarray of Israeli politics right now.  We have talked in class about how Israeli politics have appeared to be moving further and further to the right over the past 15 years or so; it is having its effect on the political system.

Israeli Investigation Denies Goldstone Report

The Israeli government has concluded that the attacks on civilians in Gaza covered in the Goldstone Report were unintentional.  It will be interesting to see if this investigation goes any further with the UN.

Plight of Palestinian prisoners

This article argues that the Palestinians prisoners plight deserves more attention than it has gotten.  So far, Israel has responded to the hunger strike in a defiant fashion, imposing punishments upon the striking prisoners.  Finally, the article states that support from some well known Arab leaders could help the resistance movement, but this is lacking.
